FERNCUMBE FRIDAY

Friday 3rd February 2017

Farmhouse Breakfast

IMG_8758.JPG

On Tuesday 24th January Years 2, 3 and 4 were treated to a hearty full English breakfast at Hatton Adventure World.

The morning began with an exciting journey on Tristan the Tractor! Once we had arrived, we got into groups and played a game to create our breakfast.

Following this, we learnt about the importance of eating a balanced diet, leading to the children identifying which food groups their breakfast items belonged to.

Then it was time to go down for breakfast. The children were treated to a feast of toast, scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, baked beans and mushrooms!

With full stomachs, there was just enough time to visit and feed some of the animals.

Finally, it was time to return to school on Tristan the Tractor.

What a fantastic morning enjoyed by all!

Welcomes and goodbyes

Following her maternity leave we are delighted to welcome Mrs Eaves back to Ferncumbe on a Monday and Tuesday. She will be a regular face in Wroxall Class (Year 5) and will additionally teach Rowington Class (Year 3) on a Monday afternoon. She takes over from Mrs Johnson, who is leaving us after half-term to enjoy her retirement.

Welcome also to Mrs Allison, our new Languages teacher in Wroxall and Lowsonford (Years 5 and 6) on a Monday afternoon. The children certainly enjoyed their first taste of German this week!

Goodbye, too,  to Mrs Chapman who has worked for us in Wren's Nest for several years. She will be much missed by us all, especially the children. We wish her every success in her new role setting up 'Griffins' after school club at Aylesford Primary. Ms Bhogal joins Ferncumbe's Wren's Nest team. She is a familiar face to the children in that has supervised lunchtimes in the school hall for the past few years.

Sainsbury's Active Kids Vouchers

Please do save any Sainsbury's Active Kids vouchers you may collect and send them into school (1 voucher for every £10 spend). In the past the children have benefitted immensely from a wide range of resources to enrich their learning, from cooking aprons to PE equipment! The scheme runs from now until May. Many thanks in advance.

School lunch menu

Warwickshire County Caterers have asked us to direct you to the current lunch menu (link below). Please note that Miss Harris has been allowed to make a couple of very minor changes to fit in with our children's preferences.
