FERNCUMBE FRIDAY

10th March 2017

Lowsonford and Wroxall Classes visited Warwick Arts Centre last week for the World Book Day Roadshow. The children had a fantastic time listening to a variety of published authors talk about their recently written books and also what originally inspired them to become writers. They  particularly enjoyed listening to stories from Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill, CBBC's Sam and Mark and Julian Clary. Year 6 agreed that watching first-hand via a large screen such accomplished illustrators bringing characters to life before their eyes made the experience even more memorable!

Friday 24th March 2017

School Council decided at their meeting yesterday that they would like Ferncumbe to support Red Nose Day by everyone wearing something red to school on Friday 24th March. The children advise this can be anything from a pair of red socks to head-to-toe red! They have also suggested each child brings in a donation (they thought £1) in return for wearing non-uniform - they will let you know in due course of the total amount they raise for the charities supported by Comic Relief.

Ferncumbe Farmers' Market

You will be aware that we are holding our next Farmers' Market during the afternoon of Friday 24th March. Doors will open at 1.30 pm. Children are currently busy in school growing and packaging produce. We are really looking forward to seeing as many of you at the event as possible.

Haseley and Honiley visit The Herbert Art Gallery

On Monday 6th March, Honiley and Haseley Classes visited the Herbert Art Gallery in Coventry. We saw a range of portraits, sculptures and models which inspired the children. We paid particular attention to their new 'Face to Face' exhibition looking at the way portraits are created in a variety of styles.

Leading on from our visit, the children have now created their own portraits of King Henry VIII. They really look forward to sharing their completed artwork with you on Friday afternoon!
