lowsonford class residential

Last week Lowsonford Class enjoyed the most fantastic residential trip to Marle Hall in North Wales. From canoeing and rock climbing to the 'B.L.T.' (you will have to ask them!) and sea level traversing, they faced every adventurous challenge that came their way with enthusiasm and confidence. Miss Morris, Mr Bladon and Mr Kitney, who accompanied the children, assured me that there was a tremendous team spirit throughout the week. The visit was very welcome for Year 6 after a focused term of work so far, including KS2 SAT tests a few weeks ago.

haseley class trips

Year 1 enjoyed their trip to The Play Village in Budbrooke where they had a chance to use the different shops and buildings in the village to role play and use their imaginations. The 'Play Leaders' at the The Play Village helped the children to get into role by acting out 'village scenarios.'

Year 1 also enjoyed their local comparison trip to Aylesford Primary School. First they acted as tour guides when the Y1 class from Aylesford came to look around our school and local area. They then spent the afternoon at Aylesford primary and had an interesting walk around Chase Meadow.

 athletics events

Congratulations to those children who qualified to compete at the County Athletics finals last Wednesday evening.  We were all so proud to hear of their amazing performances - well done everyone! Particular thanks to Mr Upton and our sports coaches for their input, and to Mrs Hughes who put in practice sessions with the Year 5 relay team at Warwick University.

Steve Kiernan, one of our sports coaches, accompanied a team of ten Year 5 and 6 children to Campion School yesterday afternoon. He fed back that all the children represented the school really well, taking part in relay, sprints, throwing and jumping events.  Ferncumbe  picked up plenty of 3rd, 2nd and 1st places, mainly in the sprints. Special thanks to parents who supported with transport on this occasion.

Lowsonford debating team

Yesterday, a team of debaters from Lowsonford Class represented Ferncumbe at Warwick School in a debating competition. Mr Bladon commented on the fantastic efforts of the team, and the accomplished manner in which they all participated and debated with children from other local primary schools. They should feel very proud of themselves, especially Ryan who received a plaque as an award for asking the best question of the day... you will have to ask him!
