Ferncumbe Friday

Friday 28th April 2023

We will be celebrating the coronation of King Charles III in school on Friday 5th May 2023 and are asking children to wear red, white and blue in recognition of the event. All children will take part in a variety of themed activities in their classrooms and have a lunchtime picnic, weather permitting! If your child has a school lunch, then there will be a coronation themed deli bag available on the day.

We are delighted that each child will receive a coronation commemorative pin badge as a personal memento from school to mark the occasion.

Hatton Class

Roots, Shoots, Buckets and Boots

Hatton Class are thoroughly enjoying their new topic ‘Roots, Shoots, Buckets and Boots’ and have been busy planting potatoes, bean seeds and sunflower seeds. They have shown a real interest in our story ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ and have enjoyed exploring it through art, role-play and Forest School activities. If you have any spare seeds, compost, plant pots or small gardening tools we would be very grateful of any donations for our Garden Centre role play area.

Haseley Class

With the help of our expert gardener Tamson, Haseley class took part in The Big Seed Sow. Mrs Bhogal helped us to plant cucumber seeds, runner bean seeds and sunflower seeds before Easter. They were well looked after over the holiday and we got to see how much our plants had grown this week. We were so impressed!

Honiley Class

We’ve been very busy in Year 2. This term our topic is ‘Off we go to Mexico!’. This week, we wrote postcards to our friends and family as if we were there. Miss Constable is so impressed with our writing!

Shrewley class

This week, Year 4 have been learning how to cross-stitch in DT. We have started a coronation sewing project which we will complete over the next couple of weeks. It has required lots of patience and perseverance so far but everyone’s efforts are paying off. We look forward to showing off our finished pieces soon!

Alive 2023 - praise party!

Our Key Stage 2 children at Ferncumbe are excited to be involved in ALIVE 2023, which is being hosted by Coventry Diocesan Board of Education. On Thursday 15th June children in Years 3-6 will be taking part along with pupils from up to 75 other Church of England Primary Schools. There will be music, singing, dancing, special guests and a mass picnic as 9,000 children gather across two days with the aim of inspiring love, hope and unity. In a fun and imaginative way, the event will remind children of their potential to be world changers. The event will follow the inclusive and invitational nature of collective worship within Church of England Schools, whilst reflecting the Anglican foundation.

Further information will follow soon, but do please see below for an outline of the event.

CLASS PAGES ON OUR SCHOOL WEBSITE
