Head’s Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

Firstly, I would like to thank you for your co-operation during our recent power outage. These issues are far from ideal in a busy school but with your support and understanding, as well as children’s, it made the whole situation much more manageable. Thankfully, it was short lived and we are back to working as normal!

What an absolutely wonderful start we've had to our final half term of this academic year! I'm bursting with pride as I write to share some truly exciting news about our amazing Y5/6 pupils who recently competed in athletics at Aylesford Secondary School.

Our children were simply outstanding as they took on pupils from other local primary schools in what turned out to be a brilliantly organised sporting event. I must take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to one of our very own parents who hosted this fantastic competition. Their dedication to making this event such a success was remarkable, and the sports leaders they worked with were incredibly positive and encouraging with all our pupils throughout the day. It's moments like these that remind me how fortunate we are to be part of such a supportive and engaged community.

The excitement doesn't stop there! We're thrilled to be taking part in ISING pop once again this year - a wonderful collaboration between our church and school that truly brings our community together. Our children have been working incredibly hard all week, learning new songs and rehearsing with such enthusiasm and dedication. Their voices have been filling our corridors with joy, and I know you'll be as proud as I am when you hear them perform.

We're delighted to invite you all to join us for not one, but two concerts on Thursday 19th June at Holy Trinity Church. We'll be holding performances at 2pm and 6pm, giving everyone the opportunity to come along and celebrate our pupils' hard work and talent. These concerts are always such special occasions, and I encourage you all to come and support our wonderful children.

I'd also like to share an exciting opportunity for you to support our school through something called Match Funding. Have you heard of this fantastic initiative? Match giving, or match funding, is a wonderfully simple way to maximise the incredible fundraising efforts of our dedicated PTA volunteers. It works through an arrangement between companies and their employees, where the company pledges to match the amount their employee has either raised or donated to charity.

If you work for any of the companies shown in our fund matching graphic, please do consider supporting the Friends of Ferncumbe to help maximise their fundraising efforts. Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a real difference to our school community.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

🏃‍♂️ Year 5 and 6 Athletics Superstars 🏃‍♀️

On Wednesday, several students from Years 5 and 6 represented Ferncumbe at Aylesford School for the annual Central Warwick sports competition. The children participated in a range of competitions, including long jump, javelin, relays, 600m, and 75m sprints. Over the several weeks, children have all put in a lot of effort to be ready for their competitions, and they have all demonstrated their ability as well as excellent sportsmanship by supporting and encouraging one another (there were a few hoarse voices by the end of the event - staff included!). There were many outstanding performances and a strong sense of teamwork! All of the children who participated should be proud of how well they represented Ferncumbe. With such a strong showing, we are hopeful that the team can progress into the next round.
