Thank you to all the parents who have registered their children for the 🌈 Colour Run 🌈!
We have over 100 children registered to take part. It’s wonderful to have you all on the team, together we can make a real difference.
Now let’s take it to the next level: raising sponsorship!
Please encourage and support your child to get sponsored to complete the run. Whether it’s friends, family, or your colleagues, every donation helps us get closer to our goal of further enriching the educational experience at Ferncumbe and our partner school in Sierra Leone.
Sponsorship forms went home in school bags and have also been emailed out to those who registered. If you need a copy of the sponsorship form please ask one of the Friends of Ferncumbe team!

Sports day
What a glorious day we had for our annual sports day! The sunshine beamed down on us as our pupils took to the field with such enthusiasm and determination. From the sack races that had everyone in the audience smiling, to the careful concentration required for the egg and spoon race, every moment was filled with joy and laughter. The beanbag on the head race tested our pupils' balance and focus, while the obstacle course showcased their agility and perseverance. But perhaps the most heartwarming event of all was our infamous buddy race, where our wonderful Year 6 pupils paired up with our Reception children. Watching these partnerships unfold - the gentle encouragement from our older pupils and the beaming smiles from our youngest - truly captured the spirit of our school community.
It wasn't just about the racing though. Our sports day became a beautiful celebration of family and community as parents, carers, and siblings joined us for a fantastic picnic on the field. The atmosphere was absolutely magical, with families spread across the grass, sharing food and stories while cheering on their children.
A huge ‘Thank you’ to the Friends of Ferncumbe for supplying the incredibly refreshing ice lollies which were gratefully received after their fierce competition and cheering each other on. Also, ‘Thank You’ to Mrs Eaves for her hard working in organising and orchestrating Sports Day!

🎶🎼Music Maestros 🎻🎺
The hall has been filled with the sound of music! Our talented Year 2 pupils delighted us with their ukulele performance, strumming away with such enthusiasm whilst singing beautifully. The musical concert was absolutely fantastic, showcasing the incredible talents of our young musicians. We were also treated to lovely performances from our violinists, cellist, recorder players, and cornet player - each one demonstrating the hard work and dedication they've put into their musical journey. It's moments like these that truly highlight the diverse talents within our school community. A huge ‘Thank you’ must also go to Warwickshire Music Service for supporting the children and encouraging their amazing talents.
Athletics Superstars
Our athletics superstars have once again made us incredibly proud! They continued their impressive form, representing our school brilliantly at the next round of the athletics competition in the Central Warwickshire Primary Athletics Championship Finals 2025 at Edmonscote Track. Their dedication, teamwork and sporting spirit truly exemplify the values we champion here at Ferncumbe. Well done to all our talented athletes and all who supported them!
Ferncumbe Gains Eco-School Green Flag Status With Distinction!
Eco-Schools Green Flag status is an internationally known accreditation for schools (implemented in over 70 countries) which follows a 7 step framework, helping to break down the overwhelming environmental issues we face, into ten key areas. We chose our first three this year - Biodiversity, Waste and Energy. This dovetailed well with the Climate Action Plan (CAP) we have been working on throughout the year as well. Events such as tree planting, assemblies, curriculum work, habitat creation, toilet twinning, visiting speakers and electrical recycling, to name but a few, all contributed towards our application. We received the wonderful news last week and were able to celebrate as a class. Wroxall Class have led the school in this endeavour wonderfully!
Thinktank Museum!
What a wonderful time Year 3 had on their trip to Thinktank in Birmingham! The day began with a hands-on LEGO workshop, where the children followed instructions to build a moving mechanism using the Scratch program. This activity built on their learning in computing, helping them to deepen their understanding of coding and mechanical systems.
After the workshop, the children explored the many fascinating areas of the museum. They were especially excited to spot fossils that we have been learning about in our science lessons.
The day of the African child
Last week Year 3 went to St Patrick’s school in Leamington to take part in The Day of The African Child celebrations. The children immersed themselves in lots of African themed workshops such as drumming, African dance and listening to African folk tales. The highlight of the day was watching the children proudly wave their flag during the parade! The children had a great time and behaved beautifully. Well done Year Three!

Tudors Alive!
Wroxall Class travelled to Mary Arden’s House in Wilmcote, last Friday, for a Tudor extravaganza! We learnt the correct way to greet each other, how to make a wattle and daub wall, and how to make a lavender bag to keep away the horrible Tudor smells! We explored a Tudor kitchen and went to visit the wonderful array of animals on the farm. After watching some butter-making, painting a wall hanging and doing a Tudor dance, we were ready to crawl onto the bus for home. An action packed day, where the children were positive, curious and as well behaved as always.
Habitat Survival Trust
Last week, Year 4 enjoyed a day at the Habitat Survival Trust near Henley-in-Arden. We explored meadow, woodland and river habitats and learnt about the plants and creatures that live there. We carried out some fieldwork in the river, measuring the depth and the current and finished off by working together to build a dam in the river. Most welcome on a very warm day! We have been reflecting on our trip this week and the class have said how lucky they feel to have seen wild orchids and kingfisher nests. A super day which really enhanced our topic learning about rivers and our learning about habitats in science. Thank you to the parent volunteers who accompanied us!
